VISAKHAPATNAM: Chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy offered special pujas to goddess Raja Syamala Devi and performed Raja Syamala Yagam at Sarada Peetham in Chinnamushidiwada in Greater Vizag on Wednesday.
Sarada Peetham seer Swamy Swaroopananda had conducted Raja Syamala Yagam for Jagan before the 2019 general elections.
The CM reached Vizag on a special flight along with endowments department minister Vellampalli Srinivasa Rao at 11.45 am. He was received at Visakhapatnam airport by deputy CM and revenue minister Dharmana Krishna Das, tourism minister M Srinivasa Rao, and Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation mayor G Hari Venkata Kumari, MPs and MLAs, besides the district administration.
The CM offered prayers to Lord Subrahmaneswara Swamy, Dasanjaneya Swamy, Tandava Murthy temples. He performed Shodashopachara pujas. Jagan distributed certificates to students passed out from the Shankaracharya Veda Pathashala.
Meanwhile, minister Sidiri Appala Raju was upset with the alleged abusive language used by a police inspector at the entrance. Later, the minister allegedly used abusive language at the inspector and pushed him.
The inspector, Naidu, had refused to allow the minister’s supporters and he told the minister that they would check protocol before sending them. Sources said there was no footage of the inspector abusing the minister. But footage of the minister abusing the inspector went viral on social media.
The minister told police officers that he will not participate in the event if the inspector was not removed from duty and eventually left without attending the event.
