April 4, 2022 will be a red-letter day for Parvatipuram, as on this day it will officially be declared the headquarters of the newly carved out Parvatipuram Manyam District.
Saluru, Parvatipuram, and Kurupam of Vizianagaram district and Palakonda of Srikakulam district have been brought under one umbrella to form the new district.
People of Komarada, Gummalakshmipuram, Kurupam and other mandals, which are located close to the Odisha border, will get easy access to administrative services as Parvatipuram is located about 50-70 km from their respective mandal headquarters.
Earlier, they had to travel 120 km to reach the Collectorate in Vizianagaram. With lack of proper bus connectivity, it was a herculean task for the people to reach Vizianagaram.
Officials in the Collectorate too had a difficult time in reaching far-flung areas. The District Collectors used to visit the border areas only once or twice during their terms. The formation of the new district will also be a boon for the officials.
The new District Collector, Nishant Kumar, and Superintendent of Police V. Vidyasagar Naidu will assume office on Monday.
Minister for Municipal Administration Botcha Satyanarayana, Deputy Chief Minister Pamula Pushpa Srivani, and senior officials reviewed the arrangements for the functioning of the new district.
Addressing the media, Mr. Satyanarayana said the new district would ensure decentralisation of administration and speedy development of the region.
