Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw in And Just Like That.

And just like that, the spinoff of Sex and the City, And Just Like That, has been renewed for a third season. The news came ahead of the And Just Like That season 2 season finale on August 24.

"We are delighted to share that since the launch of season two, And Just Like That… ranks as the #1 Max Original overall, and is the most-watched returning Max Original to date," said Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content at Max. "As we approach the highly anticipated season finale on Thursday, we raise our cosmos to Michael Patrick King and his magnificent team of writers, producers, cast and crew who continue to charm us, 25 years later, with dynamic friendships and engaging stories. We cannot wait for audiences to see where season three will take our favorite New Yorkers."

Executive producer Michael Patrick King expressed delight at the news. "We are thrilled to spend more time in the Sex And The City universe telling new stories about the lives of these relatable and aspirational characters played by these amazing actors. And Just Like That… here comes season three."

Here's everything we know about And Just Like That season 3.

And Just Like That season 3 plot

The official logline for season 3 is "something new and unexpected always awaits."

While we don't have the official plot for season 3 yet, we can make some guesses as to what happens based on what happened in the season 2 finale.

Carrie and Aidan end season 2 on a bittersweet note. While he wasn't at the Last Supper, he showed up just after to tell Carrie he doesn't want to lose her but he needs her to give him space until his son can grow up. Yes, that means waiting five years. At first Carrie is shocked, but she settles into the idea enough to where she's sipping Cosmos on the beach in Greece with Seema, who will be waiting for her new man to return from a film shoot that's set to last five months.

Miranda and Steve are in a better place after their divorce, Charlotte and Harry continue their idyllic marriage, Lisa and Herbert are closer than ever after she loses the baby, Nya and the chef are getting to know each other and Che is getting to know someone new.

If they'd ended the series with the season 2 finale, it would have worked out. So it will be very interesting to see where season 3 goes.
