Offt, Kim Cattrall is really ON ONE right now and she wants the world to know that her return to the Sex and the City universe via her And Just Like That cameo was very much conditional.
Appearing on The View, Cattrall revealed how it all went down — but notice how she withheld her ~alleged~ stipulation that she would not film with her rivals (especially Sarah Jessica Parker).
“It’s very interesting to get a call from the head of HBO saying, ‘What can we do?’ And I went, ‘Hmm…,’” Cattrall said on the ABC talk show. “Let me get creative and one of those things was to get [stylist] Pat Field back because I just thought that if I’m going to come back I gotta come back with that Samantha style, I gotta push it and we did.”
Although that was the only demand she divulged in the interview, she kinda hinted at others and as we mentioned earlier, we’ve heard it certainly wasn’t the only demand that she made.
Cattrall’s stipulations on the And Just Like That set were recently revealed and TBH, it’s exactly what you would expect if you know the history between the actress and the show.
A source has told Page Six that Cattrall had several demands if she was ever to show her fabulous face on the Sex and the City revival.
According to the outlet, the first was that she didn’t want to film alongside co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis.
Similarly, she didn’t want to be anywhere near a set that also contained Michael Patrick King, the showrunner and bestie of Sarah Jessica Parker, with whom Cattrall famously fell out.
“She will have gotten a shitload of money. It just shows the power of Kim,” one source told the publication about the star’s return to the franchise.
“I’m glad she gets to be the hero … I’m sure it took a lot of massaging to make the cameo happen.”
The cameo scene in question is tipped to depict a conversation between Carrie and Samantha on the phone while sitting in a car.
“The offer presented to Kim was always to be a phone call, shot alone as most calls would be. This was an easy and convenient way for Samantha to return. We are delighted it worked out,” said an HBO spokesperson.
As you’ll remember from And Just Like That Season One, Carrie and Samantha are now estranged due to a work disagreement, but as seen in the season finale, they’re working on mending their relationship.
The three lead gals along with Evan Handler, who plays Harry Goldenblatt, recently shared their thoughts on Kim’s return which you can read HERE.
Variety added that Cattrall’s appearance will not be an ongoing thing and that her cameo won’t air until August but hey, at least it’s hope!
Again, it’s not quite the same as Samantha returning to the fabulous four full-time, but we’ll take what we can get!
And Just Like That Season Two is now streaming on BINGE and Foxtel with a new ep dropping tonight. Peep the trailer below:
