Been missing your Sex and the City fix since And Just Like That came to an end? Good news: the SATC spin-off has been officially renewed for a second season.
The series, which continues the stories of Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) and friends Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis), follows their lives as they enter their fifties.
Though HBO has not officially announced who is returning for the next season, the show’s Twitter account released a video showing snippets of new characters Che Diaz (played by Sara Ramirez), Lisa Todd Wexley (played by Nicole Ari Parker), Seema Patel (played by Sarita Choudhury) and several others.
The caption tagged to the video reads: “Hello again, lovers…”

“I am delighted and excited to tell more stories about these vibrant, bold characters - played by these powerful, amazing actors,” executive producer Michael Patrick King said in an official statement.
“The fact is, we’re all thrilled. And Just Like That… our Sex life is back.”
Sarah Aubrey, the Head of Original Content at HBO Max, also released a statement confirming that they were “delighted by the cultural conversation generated by these characters and their stories, set in a world we already know and love so much… we can’t wait for fans to see what’s in store for season two!”
The show garnered mixed reviews when it aired in December 2021, though it was a streaming hit, becoming HBO Max’s most-streamed series premiere of a new original.
In addition to Mr Big dying via Peloton at the end of the first episode – an event which was instantly spoofed on social media – fans also reeled during a scene where Ramirez’s queer, nonbinary character Che starts a relationship with Miranda in Carrie’s kitchen while Carrie is struggling to recover from surgery.
The cast was also not joined by Kim Cattrall’s character Samantha Jones, who fell out publicly with Parker via Instagram in 2018.
Instead, Parker is said to be considering finding a replacement for Cattrall, with actresses Chelsea Handler, Kim Basinger and Annette Benning all said to be in the running.
The show itself was also beset with difficulties during filming, with Willie Garson, who played Stanford Blatch, dying from pancreatic cancer at the age of 57 while the show was filming.
In addition, numerous allegations about Chris Noth, who played Mr Big, came to light as the show premiered, with multiple women accusing him of sexual assault. Noth has denied the allegations.
