Ancelotti makes clear he wants Real Madrid to face Celtic in Champions League

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti wants his team to get Celtic in Friday's Champions League draw.

The legendary Italian boss led the Spanish giants to an 11th-place finish in the inaugural edition of the competition's league phase.

His side will face the Parkhead side or Manchester City in the knockout round play-offs, the draw for which takes place tomorrow.

Speaking after Real's 3-0 win over Brest last night, Ancelotti made clear his preference for the next stage of the tournament, admitting he'd like to avoid City and instead face Celtic: "City are more likely to win the Champions League, that's the reality," he said (TNT Sports).

"We don't like playing against City, but if we have to play City, we'll do it, as we have in previous years."

Tomorrow's draw takes place at 11am, with Celtic set to discover the next obstacle on their 2024/25 European adventure.

They have made strides on the continent this campaign, although will have to be at the top of their game to progress through a tie with either Real or German giants Bayern Munich.

Brendan Rodgers' men will play the first leg at home in just under a fortnight before travelling to either Bavaria or the Spanish capital for the return match.
