Analyzing Vikings’ final injury report for Week 4 against Panthers

The Minnesota Vikings will look for their first win on Sunday when they face off against the Carolina Panthers beginning at 12 p.m. central.

While the Vikings likely won’t know the status of a few players before the weekend, the team’s final injury report offers some good news.

Center Garrett Bradbury and outside linebacker Marcus Davenport are both listed as questionable for the game. The two missed the Vikings’ last game with injuries.

The Vikings have four total players listed on their final injury report ahead of the game against the Panthers. We have all of that broken down here.

Out

  • Safety Lewis Cine (hamstring)

Safety Lewis Cine did not practice all week with a hamstring injury, so this designation doesn’t come as a surprise. Cine, who missed most of his rookie season with a broken leg, has yet to play a defensive snap this season. Instead, Cine has spent all his time on special teams, playing 46% of the team’s special teams snaps.

Questionable

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports
  • C Garrett Bradbury (back)
  • OLB Marcus Davenport (ankle)
  • QB Jaren Hall (non injury related-personal)

Bradbury and Davenport listed as questionable is good news because neither played last week with their injuries. They’re both important parts of what the Vikings want to do on both sides of the ball, so their health is imperative for success.

However, keep in mind that it’s possible one or both do not play. Davenport, for example, just started practicing this week, so the Vikings may choose to give him another week off.

Quarterback Jaren Hall is a surprise addition to the report. Hall has been given the third quarterback designation for all of the Vikings games this season, but his absence would leave the Vikings shorthanded in case of potential injuries.

Injured Reserve

  • WR Jalen Nailor: The Vikings placed Nailor on injured reserve on Thursday after acquiring Cam Akers.
  • LT Oli Udoh: He tore his quadriceps tendon against the Philadelphia Eagles and is out for the season.
  • RB Kene Nwangwu: Nwangwu has been injured since the beginning of training camp.
  • DE James Lynch: Lynch tore his ACL during the Vikings night practice on August 3rd.
  • ILB William Kwenkeu: He was placed on injured reserve after clearing waivers when the Vikings waived him with an injury designation.

NFI List

  • IOL Chris Reed: Reed has been on the list since training camp started with an unknown injury.
  • WR Malik Knowles: The Vikings waived Knowles with an injury and he reverted back to the NFI list after clearing waivers. He is out for the season.
