The Indianapolis Colts (0-0-1) walked away from NRG Stadium with a 20-20 tie against their division rivals in the Houston Texans (0-0-1) on Sunday.
While the showing of resilience toward the end of the game was encouraging, the way the Colts played up until the fourth quarter was downright dismal. The game had shades of Week 18 in Duval before they scored 17 unanswered points to force overtime.
With Week 1 now in the books and the Colts still, somehow, at the top of the division, here’s a look at the offensive, defensive and special teams snap counts:
Offense
Analysis
At left tackle, Matt Pryor led the way with 87% of the snaps while rookie Bernhard Raimann also saw some work on the blindside.
It’s pretty clearly Michael Pittman Jr. and Parris Campbell as the starting wideouts.
TE Kylen Granson out-snapped TE Mo Alie-Cox (51-50) and also saw seven targets compared to Alie-Cox’s two.
Defense
Analysis
LB Zaire Franklin took 100% of the snaps in lieu of Shaquille Leonard, who was inactive.
The four starting defensive linemen saw heavy work without much of a rotation.
Rookie S Nick Cross is clearly the starting safety.
It was Tyquan Lewis as the fifth defensive lineman while Dayo Odeyingbo saw just four snaps.
CB Isaiah Rodgers didn’t log a single defensive snap.
Special Teams
Analysis
WR Ashton Dulin led the offensive players with 20 special teams snaps.
LB E.J. Speed led the defensive players (and all players) with 24 special teams snaps.
LB Grant Stuard and CB Tony Brown both logged the second-most snaps on special teams.
