Analyzing Bears’ final injury report for Week 3 against Chiefs

The Chicago Bears released their final injury report ahead of Sunday’s Week 3 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Bears will be without their top safety in Eddie Jackson, who suffered a foot injury in last Sunday’s loss. But the good news is Chicago is getting back wide receiver Darnell Mooney and cornerback Josh Blackwell.

On the Chiefs side, linebacker Nick Bolton and wide receiver Richie James have been ruled out. Linebacker Willie Gay, running back Isiah Pacheco and wide receiver Kadarius Toney are questionable.

Here’s a look at the Bears’ final injury report heading into Sunday, with analysis:

  • S Eddie Jackson
  • DL Khalid Kareem

Jackson suffered a foot injury in last Sunday’s loss to the Buccaneers. While Matt Eberflus indicated things with Jackson were “positive,” he didn’t participate this week in practice and is officially doubtful. Meanwhile, Kareem landed on the injury report with a hip injury on Thursday, where he was limited. He didn’t practice Friday and has been ruled out.

  • RG Nate Davis

Davis missed last week’s game due to a death in the family, but he returned to the facility this week. While Davis didn’t practice Thursday, he was limited on Friday to a personal issue. He’s officially questionable.

  • WR Darnell Mooney
  • CB Josh Blackwell
  • C Lucas Patrick

Mooney suffered a knee injury against the Buccaneers, but he indicated earlier in the week he’d be ready to go. Mooney was limited on Wednesday and Thursday before practicing in full on Friday, and he doesn’t have an injury designation. Blackwell missed last week’s game with a hamstring injury. While he was limited on Wednesday, he was a full participant on Thursday and Friday and has been cleared to play. Meanwhile, Patrick battled an illness earlier this week, but he’s officially good to go for Sunday.

LT Braxton Jones: Jones suffered a neck injury in the Bears’ Week 2 loss to the Bucs, and he was placed on injured reserve this week. Jones will miss at least the next four games and is eligible to return in Week 7 against the Raiders. Matt Eberflus wouldn’t say if it’s a season-ending injury.

CB Kyler Gordon: Gordon suffered a hand injury in Chicago’s Week 1 loss, which landed him on injured reserve. He’ll miss at least the next four games and is eligible to return in Week 6 against the Vikings.

LG Teven Jenkins: Jenkins was placed on injured reserve with an unspecified leg injury. Jenkins will miss the first four games and is eligible to return in Week 5 at the Commanders on Oct. 5.

C Doug Kramer: Kramer, like Jenkins, landed on IR with an undisclosed injury. He will miss the first four games and can return in Week 5 against Washington.
