After four years of watching DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett do hero work for the Seahawks, help is finally on the way. With the No. 20 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, Seattle selected Ohio State wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who was expected to be picked sometime in the teens.
Not only are they getting one of the top receivers in this draft class, they’re getting one with the skills they need to complete the picture at this spot.
Like Rams superstar Cooper Kupp, Smith-Njigba (6-foot-0, 196 pounds) simply knows how to get open and stay open. He excels at yards after catch and does his best work from the slot, which is where Seattle’s passing offense needed a boost.
If Smith-Njigba lives up to the potential he showed during his awesome 2021 season, one could make an argument that the Seahawks are going to have the No. 1 receiver trio in the NFL.
