An XFL player squirting a ref with water led to an incredulous discussion between mic’d up officials

Now here’s something you don’t see every day in a football game: The Houston Roughnecks and D.C. Defenders were playing on Monday night, when a flag was thrown for … a player squirting a referee with water. From the sidelines.

Seriously.

And what’s even better is the referees were mic’d up as they discussed the penalty. You can hear how incredulous they are: “On the sideline? No. 3?”

Yeah, that’s right. The Roughnecks’ Ajene Harris was the culprit and was busted with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. I don’t know what’s better — the fact that he did it or the way the officials reacted:

Amazing.
