A new season arrives to Apex Legends with Upheaval. There's a lot of new content like the introduction of a new Legend who's bringing a catastrophe along with her. However, today we'll take a look into a new age for Broken Moon.
The Broken Moon map was released back in Season 15 of the game. It's located on Cleo, which is the moon of the planet Boreas. With the new season there's going to be interesting changes. In a post, the Apex Legends team revealed that they wanted to introduce a new combat experience for the map. They not only added new Points of Interests (POIs) but also changed the very identity of the map.
One of the new POIs is the Solar Pods. It makes use of the new Lunar Buildings and serves as the bridge between Foundry and Cultivation. This new POI is intended not only to offer a new combat experience but also increase the pacing of the map between the other POIs.
Quarantine Zone
One POI that players can look forward to is the Quarantine Zone. For those familiar with the old map, it's the area where Promenade East meets Promenade West. You see, the Promenade was wiped out when the Stasis Array Node crashed down. This same area was not only bombarded with crash debris and meteors but also unknown biological material. As a result, it was quarantined.
In terms of gameplay, the team shared that what they wanted was to have a region where combat was fast-paced and more deliberate. By condensing the entire center of the map, it allows for better predictability with players knowing where they can and can't rotate from. As such, the way this POI was designed results also in fast-paced looting.
Breaker Wharf
Breaker Wharf is another area in the map that was affected by the debris that rained down. In the previous version, this POI was so secluded from the rest. As a result for the new version of the map, the Breaker Wharf has been moved and it's now where the Backup Atmostation was previously. The goal of this design change was to break up the playstyle of this side of the map.
