Renowned commentator Peter Drury’s reaction to Liverpool’s win over Manchester United has emerged on social media.
The Reds were handed a major boost to their Premier League top four hopes after a 7-0 victory over their bitter rivals. Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah each scored twice, with Roberto Firmino also on the score sheet.
Jurgen Klopp’s side moved up to fifth place in the league table with the win. Liverpool are now three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur with a game in hand.

UK viewers had Martin Tyler, Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher on commentary for Sky Sports for the match. Drury was working for US media with his commentary duties.
Drury is renowned for being poetic with his analysis of goals and moments in football matches. When giving his post-match reaction, Drury has described Liverpool’s win as “scarcely digestible”.
“Liverpool – utopia. An unimaginable zenith,” said Drury. “For Manchester United, a crushing nadir. Inexplicable, illogical, irrational, scarcely digestible, barely conceivable.
Drury added: “A story at Anfield of restored faith, restored verve, restored appetite. That is Liverpool as you remember them, and that is Manchester United as they would rather forget.
“Gakpo - two, Nunez - two, Salah - two, and Firmino to put the cherry on the icing on the richest of Liverpool cakes.
“When you woke up this morning, this was not even close to your thought process. It happened, it actually happened.”
