An Post customers faced delays in receiving social welfare and wages after 'processing issue'

A "processing issue" caused a nightmare for An Post current account holders earlier this week.

The problem prevented social welfare payments and wages from going through and had been affecting customers since Wednesday morning.

The Department of Social Protection confirmed that some social welfare recipients with An Post accounts didn't receive their weekly payment as scheduled.

They tweeted on Thursday evening: "Some DSP customers with An Post EFT accounts have not received their weekly payment today. An Post has assured us that they are in the process of resolving this. We will update you with further information asap."

Today, An Post said the matter was "finally rectified overnight".

A spokesman for An Post told Dublin Live: "We did have issues with processing payments for a number of customers in recent days.

"We have been working to resolve the problem and the matter was finally rectified overnight. We recognise this was a major inconvenience for our customers and we apologise for any inconvenience caused."
