A Hall of Famer and one of the greatest pure hitters of all time, Honus Wagner will forever live on in the annals of baseball lore. With Wagner being such an exceptional and iconic player of a different era, it seems everyone with spare “loose change” wanted a piece of memorabilia for this member of Cooperstown.
On Thursday, a “T-2106 Wagner” trading card sold for an astonishing $7.25 million in a private sale on the Goldin collectibles market. There are reportedly less than 50 authentic copies in existence. With this card specifically viewed as one of the rarest and most valuable around, its new sale officially makes it the most expensive trading card ever.

Psh. Only $7.25 million? Let me dig around in my couch cushions, and I’ll come back with more!
The record set by this Honus Wagner card might not last for long if a 1952 Mickey Mantle has anything to say about it.
New trading card record price at @goldin.
Will fall soon. 1952 Mantle card in an SGC 9.5 is now at $7.08 million with 23 days left. https://t.co/mnEHfcvWio
