Darwin Nunez has revealed the advice former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has given him since his move to the club.
The 23-year-old moved to Anfield from Benfica in the summer in a deal that could reach up to £85.5million including add-ons. Since his move, Nunez has scored six goals in 13 appearances in all competitions.
Nunez’s latest goal came in the 3-0 win over Ajax in the Champions League Group A clash on Wednesday night. The header, from an Andy Robertson corner, was the striker’s fourth goal in his last five appearances.

However, despite finding the goals in recent matches, Nunez’s Liverpool career did not start too well. In his second appearance he was sent off for a headbutt during the Reds’ draw with Crystal Palace at Anfield in August and served a three-game ban.
Suarez was handed two separate bans during his time as a Liverpool player, and now Nunez has revealed the advice his fellow Uruguayan has given him.
“It was a good thing because not many would bother themselves to pick up the phone and send you a message — I think his gesture was really important for me,” Nunez told ESPN.
“Luis is a reference point, an idol everywhere in the world. I’m getting started, I’m young, and he knows about all those things because he already played in the Premier League with Liverpool.
“Luis told me that these things will happen in every game in the Premier League, that they’ll come and find me, that they’re going to bump into me, and that I need to make myself strong and not repeat my screw-up.
“He said: ‘Listen to an idiot like me.’ I really appreciate that message and the fondness he has for me.”
