Want to fly Pan Am again? It'll cost you $$$

While it was founded in 1927 and continued to run until definitively shutting down amid ongoing financial troubles in 1991, the iconic American airline Pan Am saw its heyday during the jet age.

By acquiring a series of long-range planes like the Boeing 747 (BA) , the airline formally known as Pan American World Airways was for many years the first and only carrier offering transatlantic service between the U.S. and many European capitals. It was also seen as the epitome of jet age luxury (in 2011, Netflix (NFLX) released a fictional show of the same name about both the airline itself and interpersonal relationships between the air crew.)

The luxurious history of Pan Am earned it a loyal fan base of aviation history buffs (there is an online store selling flight attendant-style bags and other items with the iconic blue globe logo).

'A reminder of the Golden Age of travel' will come at a steep price

The same company that owns the licensing rights to sell the bags, Pan Am Brands, has partnered with travel companies Criterion Travel and Barterlings Associates to launch a 12-day trip on Pan Am. Along with "bringing back" Pan Am with a private plane featuring the logo, the organizers promise to bring one into that long-gone era of travel glamour with an itinerary going from New York City and back with stops in Bermuda, Lisbon, Marseille, London, and Foynes in Ireland’s Limerick County.

Luxury always comes at a price and one of fifty spots on the chartered Boeing 757-200 plane will start at $59,950 for flights, accommodation, meals and drinks and some souvenir merchandise included in the “Tracing The Transatlantic” trip.

While each of the spots will get a lie-flat plane seat, one will be able to pay extra for top picks. The $60,000 price is also for those booking two seats together while solo travelers will need to shell out $65,500 for the same thing.

There is a whole world of chartered luxury travel out there

“As we are becoming more accustomed to travel being a commodity, usually a way to get from point A to point B at the most economical price, we offer a reminder of the Golden Age of travel — a time when the travel itself was a glamorous experience, and when the journey was as important and special as the destination," reads the promotional material for "Tracing The Atlantic."

Pan Am Brands owner Craig Carter will be the guide leading the trip and, on Instagram (META) , wrote that he hopes this will be "the first of many exclusive themed flights back into the luxury travel space."

Criterion Travel specializes in group trips led by experts in a specific subject, such as historical periods or unique ecosystems, while Barterlings Associates arranges charter flights for customized destinations and itineraries.

This particular route will run from June 27 to July 8, 2025 while Carter hinted at different itineraries that will also follow an aviation theme that will be announced closer to the fall and winter. When it comes to the Pan Am route, Carter said that he hopes the revival of the brand "resonates with both our longtime fans and new customers."
