Nathan Patterson quickly adapted to life in the cut and thrust of the Merseyside derby, but admitted he could do with a lie down after it.
Making just his sixth Premier League appearance for the Blues, the 20-year-old was a stand-out performer for Everton as the Goodison Park encounter with Liverpool ended in a 0-0 stalemate. But despite the lack of goals, it was an afternoon to remember for the former Rangers defender who has quickly established himself as a fans' favourite since breaking into Frank Lampard's side.
Patterson took to social media to share his thoughts on his maiden derby appearance. He wrote on Twitter: "First experience of another massive fixture! 100mph, end to end. Away for an early night.

The right-back will be hoping to cement his place in the Everton first team as the season continues, after the Toffees have depended on veteran Seamus Coleman for many years. Despite only breaking into the side this season, Patterson already has 10 caps for Scotland and scored his first international goal on November 12 last year against Moldova, helping the Tartan Army to clinch a World Cup qualifier play-off place in the process.
Patterson moved south of the border from Rangers on January 4 this year, after helping the Gers to win the Scottish Premier League title for the first time in 10 years, in the previous season.
