Amy Walsh's daughter bags Emmerdale role as she returns to ITV soap in huge scenes

Amy Walsh, who stars as Tracy Metcalfe in Emmerdale, has returned to the Dales following maternity leave and her young daughter is set to follow in her mum's footsteps as she has landed a role alongside her on the popular soap.

Viewers of the ITV show will be blown away in huge scenes as they discover Tracy and Nate have rekindled their relationship and are planning to get married and head back to the village to start a new life together as Tracy plans on opening a nursery.

But actress Amy, 36, told the Mirror she would love to see her own daughter get involved and believes the next storyline for her character is a great opportunity to do so as she spoke of what's to come next for Tracy Metcalfe.

She said: "She’s always looking for the next career move. She thinks it’s a good idea to open up a nursery in the village, so that’s me looking after more kids."

She quipped this would be a perfect way for her own daughter Bonnie to get involved in the filming too.

"It’ll be fun. I’ve actually asked if Bonnie can be an extra. Then I could see her a bit more! I don’t think that would be wise though," she revealed of having her little one on set with her as one of the children in the nursery.

Meanwhile, the 36-year-old actress also revealed she is looking forward to seeing Tracy back with Nate, adding: "It’ll be fun though. It’ll be nice to see. Tracy moved away to Nottingham for work and she got a passion for being successful and this is just another venture she’s taken herself on, whether it works or not is another matter.

"She’s going to put her heart and soul in it. She’s just gonna put her heart and soul into it; she’s so much about creating a future for Frankie that she didn’t have and I think that’s really nice to see. It’s literally my work life echoing my home life."

Amy previously revealed she didn't leave the house for months after the arrival of her daughter.

"I didn’t leave the house for eight months, barely, and if I did, it’d be a couple of hours close by so I could rush home if she needed me. Everyone was telling me, 'Once you get to six months you’ll be fine', but at six months it was still really hard," she said.

"I did a postnatal depression storyline as Tracy while I was pregnant and did loads of research, but I still didn’t know what I was walking into. I was like, 'Wow, this is hard'. It’s not to say we didn’t enjoy the first eight months, we’ve just found it a bit tougher."

Emmerdale airs every weekday at 7.30pm. You can also watch all the episodes on ITVX.
