Amy Nuttall is reportedly hoping to be among the line-up for the next series of Strictly Come Dancing, with her said to already be in talks with the BBC about the possibility.
The actor, 40 - known for her roles in Emmerdale and Downton Abbey - is believed to have faced a difficult few months as her marriage reportedly ended in December.
She was said to have been left "heartbroken" amid her husband Andrew Buchan, 44 - who starred in Broadchurch - reportedly having left their home over the festive period.
It's now been reported that Amy is in talks to compete on Strictly later this year, with her said to be hoping that the opportunity would be a "fresh start" following the split - just like one finalist from last year's competition.
Amy is said to have been inspired by TV presenter Helen Skelton, 39, who competed on the BBC show last year after she had separated from her husband Richie Myler, 32.
A source told The Sun that Amy believes the show could give her the "fresh start she needs" and that it could boost her confidence in the wake of the "messy break-up".
The source said: "Amy has been left broken by Andrew's actions and feels humiliated by the whole ordeal. She wants to move on and not let the messy break-up define her."
They further commented about the former soap star: "Strictly would be the perfect way for her to do that and hopefully restore the confidence she is lacking right now."
It was reported last month that Amy had split from her husband Andrew, whom she's been married to since 2012.
It was reported last month that since leaving the family home, Andrew has lived with his former Better co-star Leila Farzad, 40. They reportedly have a romance.
Amy rose to fame playing Chloe Atkinson on Emmerdale from 2000 until 2005. She was later cast as Ethel Parks in Downton Abbey, appearing in the role from 2011 to 2012.
She wouldn't be the first former Emmerdale cast member to compete on Strictly, with some former cast members having even reached the final in previous years.
Kelvin Fletcher, now 39 - who played Andy Sugden - won the contest in 2019, whilst Gemma Atkinson, now 38 - who played Carly Hope - was a runner-up back in 2017.
