Amy Macdonald asks fans not to show up at her home as it is 'incredibly scary'

Amy Macdonald has made a plea to fans not to turn up at her home, telling them it's "never ok" for them to do so.

The Glaswegian singer-songwriter took to social media to share the message with fans, asking them not to gather outside her house.

While Amy, who is originally from Bishopbriggs, described her fans as "amazing" and said she grateful for their support, she was firm to stress that such incidents were "incredibly scary".

She said: "I am so grateful for the amazing fans I have but it’s never ok to turn up at my home. Please don’t do it. It's incredibly scary for me as innocent as it may be."

Fans on Twitter were quick to come to the This Is The Life singer's defence, agreeing that it was inappropriate for people to show up at her home.

One said: "What??? Omg! That’s not ok by anyone’s standards."

Another added: "Oh dear. Some people are just not aware of limits or see it from your point of view. They think they know you from the music and social media but those things are not ALL of who you are. Stay safe."

Meanwhile, a third fan commented: "Why would anyone do that? I love your music but I have no clue where you live, other than in Beautiful Scotland, even if I did know I couldn't do something as weird as that!!"

"Things are just getting a bit too “up close and personal” the boundaries are gone now. Yet if you create new boundaries you’re accused of being disrespectful to your fans. You just can’t win," another said.

Amy burst onto the scene in 2007 with her debut album This Is the Life and has since released five albums, with her latest, The Human Demands, coming out in 2020.
