Amy Broadhurst's dad was 'so proud' after watching the Dundalk fighter add Commonwealth gold to her World Championships success from earlier in the year.
The 25-year-old became the first female boxer to win a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games for Northern Ireland by beating England’s Gemma Richardson in the lightweight final on Sunday.
Amy's father Tony has been in her corner since the beginning of her career and took to social media to praise his daughter following her most recent success.

He tweeted: "AMY BROADHURST, Ulster 60kg Elite Champion, Romanian Golden Belt 63kg Champion, Picked by Katie Taylor to help prepare Katie for the biggest female professional contest EVER, World 63kg Champion and to cap it all off now Amy wins Commonwealth Games 60kg Gold, sooo PROUD."
Broadhurst won gold at light-welterweight at the World Championships back in May, with that victory coming after she had spent a number of weeks sparring with Taylor ahead of the undisputed lightweight champion's Madison Square Garden win over Amanda Serrano.
Speaking of the Dundalk fighter earlier this year, Taylor said: "She's got all the skill in the world, but not just the skill she has the heart and the grit as well.
"I brought her in specifically for this fight [Serrano], she has been perfect preparation for this fight so I think Amy is going to be the future of women's boxing as well.
"She's only going to get better and better over these next few years and it was just great to share a ring with her."
