A star of Welsh golf, Amy Boulden was a professional golfer for over a decade before calling time on her career in 2024. Discover more about her life and playing days via these facts.

AMY BOULDEN FACTS

1. Boulden was born on August 6, 1993 in St Asaph, Wales.

2. Her home town is Llandudno in North Wales.

3. She has been a long-time member of Conwy Golf Club.

4. She was first introduced to the game of golf at the age of five because her whole family were keen and good players. Her dad was the head professional at Maesdu Golf Club when Amy was growing up. her mum was a single-figure handicap player, and her two older sisters both represented Wales as amateurs.

5. Boulden represented Wales from the age of 13 and had one of the most successful amateur careers in Welsh golfing history, including part in winning a record three Home Internationals (2008, 2009 and 2013). Among her other notable achievements as an amateur included winning the Welsh Ladies Amateur, the Scottish Open Amateur, and both the English and Welsh Open Amateur Stroke Play.

6. She played for Europe in the 2010 Junior Ryder Cup and the 2011 Junior Solheim Cup.

7. As an amateur, Boulden qualified for the Women's British Open three times but failed to make the cut in any (2010, 2012, 2013).

8. She was named 2008 BBC Wales Young Sportswoman of the Year.

9. Boulden turned professional in 2013.

10. Boulden was named LET Rookie of the Year in 2014 after she made 12 cuts in 16 tournaments.

11. Her first pro victory arrived in May 2014 at the Association Suisse de Golf Ladies Open on the LET Access Series. Boulden eventually saw off Kelly Tidy and Sally Watson after six playoff holes.

12. Boulden's only win on the Ladies European Tour was in September 2020 at the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open. She won by three-strokes with a score of 17-under par.

13. Her best finish at a Major was at the 2015 Women's British Open, where Boulden ended T9th.

14. Boulden made 17 starts on the Symetra Tour in 2019 and made 14 cuts, with a season-best result of T5th.

15. Boulden returned to the Ladies European Tour in 2020 after winning the final stage of Q-School. She made birdie on the 18th hole of the final round to help her win.

16. In December 2024, Boulden announced her retirement from playing pro golf.

17. The Welsh woman has occasionally worked with the Sky Sports Golf team as an on-screen analyst. She has also performed radio duties at Final Qualifying for The Open.

18. Aside from golf, Boulden enjoys playing padel and is a shareholder of Padel Travel Club.
