Amy Adams' daughter asked her to stop wearing make-up.
The 50-year-old actress adopts a low-key approach to beauty when she isn't working because 14-year-old Aviana - who she has with husband Darren Le Gallo - wanted her to be "just mom".
She told People magazine: "She didn't like me wearing make-up.
"She's like, 'I just want you to look like Mom, not like Amy Adams.' And I was like, 'You got it.'
"So there were years where I didn't wear makeup wherever we went. I mean, I sneaked some mascara. But yeah, I wouldn't wear make-up because she wanted me to be just mom."
But these days, the "funny" teenager has been urging the 'Nightbitch' actress to "upgrade" her wardrobe.
She admitted: “I’m usually the least manicured at my household. But lately, per my daughter’s request, I’m working on an upgrade. She’s like, ‘You can’t wear workout clothes if you’re not working out, Mom. You can’t just do the leisure part of athleisure.’ "
If the family are going out together, the 'Disenchanted' star is usually "the last person to get ready" because she's too busy helping her daughter to spend too much time on herself.
She said: "I will help my daughter get ready. My husband will get ready. I will be helping her, I run around or I braid her hair.
" And I'm always the last person to get ready.... usually [on my end] there's a ponytail involved, maybe a hat, and I think it's been that way since she was born."
In September, Aviana joined her parents for the premiere of 'Nightbitch' at the Toronto International Film Festival, and Amy found the teenager's support very "sweet".
She said: “It was really great to share that with her. I just love her.
“I get really nervous about public speaking, and she’s never been around me [in those moments]. She was like, ‘Mom, you do this all the time. You got this!’ She was supporting me, it was so sweet.”
