Britain's first triple amputee and Prince Harry's 'real hero' has expressed his pride after his daughter dressed up as him for World Book Day. Former Royal Marine Mark Ormrod, 39, was the UK's first triple amputee to survive the Afghanistan conflict.
Despite being told he would never walk again, he eventually would go on to compete for Britain at the Invictus Games - patronised by his friend Prince Harry. The 'action hero' Taekwondo, Karate and Jiu Jitsu fighter even was awarded an OBE for his charitable work for the Royal Marines Charity.
The dad of three from Plymouth, Devon, has now proudly taken to social media showing off his daughter's costume - of him. Featuring a drawn-on beard, a Royal Marines beret and a set of Judo robes, his daughter Evie proudly held up a copy of her dad's book A Man Down.
Writing on Twitter and Facebook, Mark said: "Of all of the people and all of the things Evie could have dressed as for #WorldBookDay she chose me. This is one of those rare parenting moments where you feel like you might be doing an ok job."
Overwhelmed fans credited Evie's choice on her dad's diligent work. One wrote: "Oh my goodness, this made my eyes a bit misty. Proof you’re not doing an ok job… you’re doing the hardest job in the world absolutely spectacularly!!"
While another added: "A proper ‘chip off the old block’ there. Dads are often heroes! I would say you are definitely doing something right with that one!"
