For Amit Sadh, adventure has been part and parcel of his life, right from the age of six. He spent most of his childhood in the hills, which explains his love for trekking. He credits his late father, XXX, for instilling the love of trekking in him. Now, he has his eyes set on conquering Mt Everest, the highest mountain in the world. Though it is literally an uphill task, Amit is determined that he will accomplish it in 2019. In fact, he has already started preparing for the same.

A typical day in his life starts at 4.30am and concludes at 10pm. Throughout the day, he follows a strict fitness schedule. “I have always been disciplined, but over the past one year, I have been stricter with my routine. My day starts very early. I am also working out religiously with my trainers. I do a combination of Pilates — to strengthen my core, yoga — for better breathing, and altitude training. You can’t come home drunk at 4am and expect to scale the Everest. You have to lead a certain kind of life, and undergo solid preparation. I have taken off six months in 2019 to prepare to scale Mt Everest. I plan to stay for a month in Leh, J&K, before I go on the expedition,” says Amit.

He has also taken off four months in 2018 to climb Mt Annapurna – the tenth highest mountain on the planet before Everest. “A lot of permissions have to be taken and it’s not easy to climb Everest. About `35 lakh will be needed for this and currently, I am in the process of figuring out the logistics. I am also locking the team that I am going to be climbing with,” Amit informs.
