After being booted from I'm A Celebrity... South Africa, as he was voted to leave by his fellow campmates, Amir Khan has now issued a statement about his exit. The boxer was the third campmate to leave following Gillian McKeith and Shaun Ryder's exit from the show.
The celebrities were horrified when they were asked by Ant and Dec to vote a campmate out, however, Amir has now revealed that he asked his fellow celebrities to vote for him and Carol Vorderman has admitted that the camp "didn't want to vote for Amir at all".
Starting his statement with "THE TRUTH" Amir said he "chose to be picked" and "strictly told the camp mates to vote for me". He said: "THE TRUTH - I chose to be picked and nominated out. I remember the night before, when the voting was taking place - I strictly told the camp mates to vote for me. I couldn't see anyone else voted out. I had my jungle experience, won plenty of stars for camp and enjoyed my time with the camp mates. Thank you for a wonderful time. Please don't be upset - I was happy to go."

Welsh TV star Carol Vorderman posted Amir's statement to her Instagram story and added: "He did tell us all to vote for him. We didn't want to vote for Amir at all". Speaking after the show, Amir said the South African version of the show was much better than the Australian one.
He said: "It was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. It’s like I got to be with a new family in South Africa. I’m always going to compare it with my first time in Australia but this one, for me, was way better. Great camp, the campmates were amazing. Even though I would have loved to have stayed in a little bit longer, sometimes what can happen is, if you stay longer, you can outstay your welcome. It was just a great experience and I’m just glad I had the opportunity."
