Amir Khan responds to being mocked for description of legend Sir Alex Ferguson

Amir Khan has joked with fans to "stop it" after being mocked for using a Wikipedia entry to describe his meeting with Sir Alex Ferguson.

Khan hung up his gloves earlier this year following his defeat by Kell Brook in a bitter grudge match in February. Since electing to stop competing and spend time with his family, Khan has been spotted both in the UK and in the Middle East, where most recently he attended Anthony Joshua's rematch defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.

Upon returning to domestic shores, Khan posted a video of himself in Manchester meeting legendary Man United manager Ferguson, with the caption: "Lovely to meet Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester Old Trafford Stadium. Best known for managing Manchester United from 1986 to 2013. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest football managers of all time."

Khan had used a couple of sentences from informational page Wikipedia to describe the Scotsman, who guided the Red Devils to 13 Premier League titles during his tenure. Broadcaster Dan Walker was among those who mocked Khan, writing: "Magnificent work from Amir Khan best known for being a British former professional boxer who competed from 2005 to 2022. He held unified light-welterweight world championships between 2009 and 2012, including the WBA (later Super) and IBF titles."

The former world champion responded, writing "Stop it" after understanding Walker's joke which was one of many Khan had received after his description. One fan wrote: "Cheers for that Amir I’d never heard of him." Another also spotted: "Amir just copy and pasted from Wikipedia."

One fan even joked: Looks like Amir didn't know who he was so had to google him." One fan slated the description, adding: "Bro I thought about it but don't know how to say this without sounding offensive, more people are likely to know who Fergie is than who you are. Just stating this as a matter of fact, not shade."
