A recent poll conducted by Marquette Law School revealed that 83% of Americans believe it is essential for a president to adhere to the decisions made by the Supreme Court. This finding comes at a time when President Donald Trump has faced criticism for questioning the legitimacy of court rulings.
Despite the public's disapproval of certain high-profile Supreme Court decisions, such as the overturning of Roe v. Wade and granting Trump immunity from criminal prosecution, the majority of Americans still support the rule of law. In fact, 51% of adults approve of the job the Supreme Court is doing, marking its highest rating in three years.
Interestingly, the poll also showed that Americans have more confidence in the Supreme Court compared to other branches of government, including the presidency, Congress, the Department of Justice, and the national news media.

While some respondents expressed the belief that a president could ignore Supreme Court rulings, the overwhelming consensus was that such decisions must be honored. This sentiment was echoed by President Trump himself, who stated that he always abides by court rulings, even if he plans to appeal them.
Furthermore, the poll indicated bipartisan support for certain Supreme Court decisions, such as upholding a Texas law requiring age verification for accessing porn sites and allowing Trump's sentencing in a New York hush money case.
Overall, the survey results highlight Americans' commitment to upholding the rule of law and respecting the authority of the Supreme Court, regardless of individual opinions on specific rulings.
