American tourist in Edinburgh's priceless reaction to trying Irn Bru and Greggs

A popular American TikTok user has filmed himself in Edinburgh trying both Irn Bru and a Greggs sausage roll for the first time.

Ariel Viera, who has racked up just shy of half a million followers on the social media platform, regularly films himself on adventures, recently visiting Scotland and Edinburgh to try a selection of Scottish foods and visit famous sites.

While in Edinburgh on Tuesday, February 28, Ariel filmed his reaction to trying both Irn Bru and a Greggs sausage roll, one after the other, and his reaction was priceless.

The social media star visited the Greggs branch on Forrest Road for both of his selections, saying: "This is the British institution that is known as Greggs and inside, we're going to try a proper Scottish snack."

Ariel does, however, acknowledge afterwards that Greggs did not originate in Scotland, but it is widely loved throughout the country regardless.

Known in his native America as soda, Ariel makes sure to keep Scottish viewers on his side as he familiarises himself with the term 'fizzy drink'.

The first reaction to the smell of the fizzy orange drink was an interesting one.

Ariel jokingly compared the smell to orange vitamins that are popular in the US and after taking his first gulp of the drink, he said: "definitely very fizzy and very orangey, woah."

"That is quite a mixture. Did you know that in Scotland, they also invented chloroform, I don't know I'm just noting that fact that is completely unrelated to this, but they are two unique chemical compounds.

"It's so interesting that I can't stop drinking," he joked.

Before turning to the famous Greggs sausage roll, he says: "Okay sausage roll are not specifically Scottish but of course, they're eaten here a lot."

Ariel was so impressed with the sausage roll that he admitted his desire for them to be popular addition to American eateries.

He said: "I love sausage rolls and wish they had them in every American cafe like they do in Britain.

"Good pork, slightly warm and better than your average convenience store snacks that you find in America.

He finished by saying: "The typical Scottish snack: I approve."

Whilst exploring the city wider, Ariel also visited the famous Elephant House cafe, where is it said that JK Rowling wrote the first Harry Potter book, although it is currently closed due to the fire on George IV Bridge, and Victoria Street, which he regarded as "the real life Diagon Alley from Harry Potter."
