American Pie singer Don McLean steps out with model girlfriend Paris Dylan ahead of 3Arena gig

Fans of ‘American Pie’ singer Don McLean were delighted to see the star in Kildare with his girlfriend ahead of his performance in the 3Arena.

The couple, aged 78 and 28 respectively, went on a trip to the Style of Icons exhibition, hosted in the Newbridge Silverware museum. The pop legend opened the exhibit and treated fans to a performance of several of his songs.

Don previously admitted to the Independent that the couple’s 48 year age gap had “caused a stir” amongst fans. The couple were seen cosying up at the event arm-in-arm after Don had performed in front of the crowd.

His former guitar is also on display in the Style of Icons exhibit, likely influencing the decision to have him perform at its opening.

Don’s 3Arena gig is part of American Pie’s 50th anniversary tour. The Grammy award winner is set to play a fully seated concert, which is sold out. The European leg of the tour will end on November 13 and will see Don perform in cities such as Amsterdam, Berlin and Stockholm.

The singer previously had a four-night run at Vicar Street in 2017, where he performed a rendition of the classic “American Pie” hit. The song was previously voted the fifth best “Song of the 20th Century” in a poll completed by the Recording Industry Association.
