A Callander couple have paid the ultimate tribute to the town – by having a mural of one of its most iconic landmarks painted on a wall in their home.
Kathryn and Loucas George recently moved to the town from America where they enlisted the help of a local artist to bring the watercolour to life.
The couple chose to have the town’s Red Bridge, which spans over the River Teith, painted on the wall of their home.
Kathryn and Loucas moved to the area from Los Angeles and they drafted in artist Pamela A Bell to reproduce the structure.
Kathryn told the Observer: “We are fortunate that my husband’s and my jobs allow us to work anywhere.
“We Love the Stirling area and we absolutely love Callander. We feel very fortunate having found our home here.”
It was at the Creative In Callander store near their home that they first discovered Pamela’s work and they decided to ask her to get involved.

Kathryn added: “We fell in love with Pamela A Bell’s watercolour piece, that is literally our backyard. We have a beautiful view from the back of our residence, of the River Teith and the bridge that goes over it.
“We decided to contact Pamela Bell, and see if she would be willing to do her watercolour piece that depicted our Callander backyard perfectly. Pamela was game, and her final result was spectacular.”
The mural now adorns the wall in the entry way to the property.
The couple had previously lived in California for over twenty years, where they raised their two sons.
Loucas has worked in the television world, producing for over 30 years, whilst Kathryn works as a photographer.
Kathryn added: “We have had the gift of travelling quite a bit, and always loved Scotland. So we started to look over here. Our one son is in LA working in IT, but our other son is finishing up a Masters at the University of Dundee – so we have seen a lot of Scotland.
“We first spent about a year in Edinburgh, where my husband was commuting, as he was producing the second season of ‘Good Omens’, and it was an easy commute from the city.
“We had been looking for some time, and our property manager found us a lovely maisonette in the centre of town in Callander. We Love it.”
They arrived in Callander around three months ago and Kathryn recounted how they first came up with the idea for the mural. She said: “Our backyard view is literally the River Teith and the pretty red brick bridge that runs over it. We were walking on the Main Street one day, and there was a painted card with our backyard scene on it, and the rest is history.
“We had wanted to do something with our front entry-way wall, and when we saw Pam’s painting on the card, we contacted her. She was in with both feet from the start.
“What she did in less than three weeks was just brilliant.
“We absolutely love Callander and the surrounding areas. We now have a piece of it right when you walk through our front door.”
Loucas has worked on a host of productions over his 30 year career, including on The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Empire and The OC.
