Ambulances Struggle To Reach Al-Shifa Hospital Due To Damaged Roads

Israeli troop withdrawal led to obstacles for ambulances reaching Al-Shifa hospital.

Following the withdrawal of Israeli troops on Monday, ambulances attempting to reach Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza are encountering significant obstacles due to damaged roads, according to Gaza's Civil Defense. The Director of operations of Gaza Civil Defense, Raed al-Dahshan, expressed the difficulties faced in transporting the injured and deceased to the hospital due to road conditions.

Gaza's Civil Defense has reported the discovery of at least 300 bodies at Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City. However, the exact number of casualties remains challenging to determine as Israeli forces reportedly buried bodies within and around the hospital complex and bulldozed nearby roads. Independent verification of these numbers is hindered by restricted access to the region.

Despite the challenges, rescue efforts are ongoing with limited resources. Al-Dahshan highlighted the extensive damage to Al-Shifa hospital, emphasizing the commitment to assisting the affected population by extinguishing fires, providing medical aid, and recovering bodies.

The situation at Al-Shifa hospital remains critical, with ongoing rescue operations amidst the devastation caused by recent events. The dedication of rescue teams and volunteers in salvaging what remains and aiding those in need reflects the resilience and determination of the community in the face of adversity.
