Amber Heard's sister Whitney Henriquez has taken aim at MTV for featuring Johnny Depp in a surprise appearance at the 2022 Video Music Awards.
The 34-year-old sibling to Amber was enraged by the 'stunt' by Depp, 59, who appeared as the MTV 'Moon Person' in a pre-recorded skit in which the Pirates of the Caribbean star had his face digitally superimposed into the helmet of the floating figure.
Whitney labelled MTV as "disgusting" for Depp being at the awards, which was held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Just weeks after Depp won his libel case against ex-wife Amber, the actor joked with the audience: "And you know what? I needed the work."
MTV's official Instagram account shared a joint post with Depp's in which it showed a clip of him as the spaceman. The video was captioned: "guess who? #VMAs."
Adam Waldman, who is Depp's former lawyer, celebrated the appearance with raising-hands emojis as his comment.
Whitney was not in such a celebratory mood and posted a message on her Instagram Story calling out MTV.
She wrote, with an apparent reference to domestic violence: "I stand with Amber Heard" and a graphic that renamed the event the "DVMA's".
Whitney continued: "@MTV you're disgusting and clearly desperate! I really hope that none of the people that made this call have daughters..."
On June 1, Amber was found to have defamed Depp in her Washington Post op-ed about domestic violence and abuse.
She didn't mention Depp in the article but he argued that it was made clear that it was written about him and the jury at the Fairfax County, Virginia agreed, with Depp being awarded more than $10million in damages.
Amber is appealing the verdict with Depp appealing the countersuit win which was awarded to Amber.
