Amber Heard returned to the stand Thursday to continue her testimony in her defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp.
The actress’ testimony at the Fairfax County Circuit Court in Virginia began Wednesday with Heard accusing Depp of physically abusing her.
Heard became emotional as she described the first time Depp allegedly hit her, claiming he slapped her three times after telling her that a tattoo on his arm read “Wino.”
“I just laughed because I thought he was joking, and he slapped me across the face,” Heard testified Wednesday. “And I laughed. I laughed because I didn’t know what else to do. I thought, ‘This must be a joke.’ ... He said, ‘You think it’s funny, b---h? You think you’re a funny b---h?’ And he slapped me again.”
Depp, 58, sued Heard, 35, for $50 million over a 2018 op-ed published by the Washington Post in which Heard called herself “a public figure representing domestic abuse.”
The op-ed didn’t name Depp, but Heard had accused the actor of abuse more than two years earlier.
The trial began nearly four weeks ago, with Depp testifying for four days last month. He claimed he never hit Heard and accused her of often turning physically violent toward him, saying he suffered a severed finger in 2015 when Heard allegedly threw a vodka bottle at him.
