Amazon slashes Fire TV price by £50 - and it is now cheaper than rival Sony

When it comes to home entertainment, Sony is one brand that is known for their affordable options - but it looks like they have some competition.

Amazon is offering a budget-friendly option after it slashed the cost of one of its Fire TV screens by £50, making it cheaper than some other options on the market right now.

Usually costing £249.99, Amazon shoppers are now able to snap up the Fire TV 2-Series for just £199.99 - making it 24 percent cheaper than its original asking price.

The online delivery giant only launched its range of Fire TV screens in the UK earlier this year and it includes the Amazon Fire TV 2-series, which has access to a range of premium streaming apps including Disney+, Netflix and Amazon Prime.

There is also the option to stream free movies and TV shows with the options of Pluto TV and Freevee, which is ideal for those who maybe don't have the budget to splash on many streaming sites, reports Manchester Evening News.

The Amazon Fire TV 32-Series is cheaper than Sony models (Amazon)

The 32-inch TV itself comes with a one year warranty and brings films and TV series to life in HD 720p resolution, with support for HDR 10, HLG and Dolby Digital Audio.

Another 32-inch TV model - the Sony Brevia LED HDR TV - is currently priced at £349 from John Lewis and Currys. In comparison, Amazon's Fire TV is actually £149.01 cheaper.

However, if Amazon's TV is still a little out of budget, then there are other more affordable options from Samsung. Argos currently stocks the Samsung 32-inch Smart HD Ready HDR LED TV for just £179.

Meanwhile, Argos also has slashed the new Samsung 32 Inch Smart Full HD HDR LED TV down from £229 to just £199 - the same price as the Amazon Fire TV.

If you want to purchase Amazon's Fire TV 2-Series for just £199, you can buy it via the Amazon website.
