Amazon shoppers bulk-buying Cadbury Creme Eggs after price slashed to pennies ahead of Easter

Easter is a little over seven weeks away, but chocolate fans are already getting into the spirit of spring by stocking up on one of the season’s most popular confectionery snacks. It comes after Amazon has slashed the price of a huge box of cream eggs, meaning you can get nearly 50 of the foil-wrapped treats for under £20.

Cadbury Creme Eggs were first produced in 1963 under Fry’s, renamed Cadbury in 1971. The egg-shaped treat features a thick chocolate shell with a white and yellow fondant filling, much loved by those with a sweet tooth.

The Amazon offer has seen a box of 48 eggs reduced from £26.40 - 55p an egg - to £19.40, which makes them just 40p each.

By comparison, Asda are currently selling single creme eggs for 50p each, while Sainsbury’s are stocking them for 60p, meaning customers who bulk buy them online could save 20p an egg - or £9.60 on the whole box when compared to purchasing 48 eggs individually.

Perfect for Easter egg hunts or sharing with friends and family, shoppers have heaped praise on the massive box of chocolate - you may even say it’s an egg-cellent deal.

One shopper said: “I'm going to be buying a box of these to sit in my fridge every Easter from now on. My only regret is not buying a massive box of creme eggs earlier.”

While a second added: “This is my first chocolate bulk buy and was worth every penny. One is enough to keep my stress levels sated for a while and once my family found out I had a box like in stores they swarmed like flies and still had plenty after sharing.”

“Have you ever wondered how many creme eggs you can eat in one session?” wrote a third, adding: “Well I don't have to wonder any more…”

Another joked: “I sent a box to one of our remote offices and they screamed like a bunch of girls watching their favourite Boy Band. The only thing better than a box of 48 creme eggs would be a box of 49 cream eggs,”

Shoppers have been seriously stocking up, with one saying they ordered three boxes in a month. They added: “These have to be one of my guilty pleasures in life in my top three of choccy of all time. So yummy and all of my boxes were perfect, no missing wrappers, no sticky ones and that was 144 single eggs and every one of them are wrapped up perfectly.”

Another commented: “I bought these as they were the cheapest, I thought maybe they would be coming up to their use by date but no they were lovely and fresh and tasted gorgeous. I bought 2 boxes to bring back to Turkey with me as I cannot get Cadburys anything here. A lot of friends here were delighted.”

One shopper even challenged others to ‘buy this box and find out how many you can stuff your face with before you start to feel sick!’.
