The popular young adult book trilogy adaptation, 'The Summer I Turned Pretty,' is set to return for its third season in 2025, as announced by Amazon during its recent upfront presentation in New York. The upcoming season, which was greenlit last August, will consist of 11 episodes, making it the longest season yet for the series.
Production on the new season was delayed due to the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes last year, but filming is currently underway. The show's creator, Jenny Han, will be making her directorial debut in season three, adding an exciting new dimension to the series.
'The Summer I Turned Pretty' follows the story of a love triangle involving the characters Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah, portrayed by Lola Tung, Christopher Briney, and Gavin Casalegno, respectively. The first season of the show premiered in summer 2022, followed by the second season in summer 2023.
In addition to Jenny Han, Sarah Kucserka serves as a co-showrunner for season three, with an executive producing team that includes Karen Rosenfelt, Hope Hartman, Mads Hansen, and Paul Lee of Wiip, who co-produce the series alongside Amazon Studios.
Fans of the series can look forward to an extended and highly anticipated third season of 'The Summer I Turned Pretty,' which promises to deliver more drama, romance, and emotional moments as the story of Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah continues to unfold.
