Amazon MGM Studios Developing 'Wings Of Fire' Animated Series

Firefighters tackle fire in a field as forest fires ravage the Bolivian Amazon, in San Buenaventura

A new animated series based on the popular book series 'Wings of Fire' by author Tui T. Sutherland is currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios. This project marks the second attempt to bring the beloved books to the screen, following a previous effort by Netflix that was ultimately scrapped. The Amazon MGM Studios adaptation features a fresh creative team and is being produced by Marc Resteghini through Jack Tar Productions.

The official logline for the series sets the stage for an epic adventure, following five young dragons who are raised in secret and destined by prophecy to end a devastating war. When one of their own is threatened, they choose to escape and forge their own path, ultimately seeking to save themselves and their world in the process.

The 'Wings of Fire' book series consists of 15 main novels, along with supplementary books and a graphic novel version. Since its initial publication by Scholastic in 2012, the books have garnered immense popularity, selling over 27 million copies worldwide and maintaining a presence on the New York Times bestseller list for more than 240 weeks.

Marc Resteghini, the executive producer of the Amazon MGM Studios project, previously held a key role in series development at the studio. His track record includes successful shows like 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,' 'Jack Ryan,' and 'The Underground Railroad.' Resteghini's involvement in the 'Wings of Fire' adaptation adds further anticipation to the upcoming series.

Tui T. Sutherland, the author of the 'Wings of Fire' books, is represented by WME, Writers House, and Goodman Genow. The project is poised to bring the rich world of Pyrrhia and its dragon protagonists to life in a visually stunning and captivating animated series that will delight fans of the original books.
