Amazon Prime Day is officially in full swing with prices dropping on near enough every type of product and it's sending shoppers in a frenzy to stock up in the best sale this side of Black Friday. The shopping giant has dropped the prices of everything including the latest in tech and gaming as well as everything you need to build your home bar.
One deal that's caught our attention here at the Mirror is Mount Gay's Eclipse Heritage Blend has dropped down to just £15.98. The rum is a golden blend from the famous Bajan distillery, which claims to be the oldest rum brand in the world with it being founded in Barbados in 1703.
Mount Gay has managed to stay relevant for hundreds of years by having a quality product. For many rum aficionados Eclipse is the benchmark that all rums are measured against, the crisp golden booze has distinct notes of vanilla and banana with underlying notes of caramel, spice and summer fruit.
The classic rum has slightly burnt notes and an oaky character with a light to medium body and is widely considered to be a must have in any home bar. With an ABV of 40% it's fairly standard for rum but reviewers insist that the taste is smooth enough to drink it straight.
One shopper wrote: "Have tried many bottles of rum (mostly more expensive than this) and Mount Gay is far more superior. Better flavour, not harsh and good enough to drink neat. No need to add anything-perfect as it is. I highly recommend this if you want a reasonably priced decent tasting rum."
Another penned: "Not a big Rum drinker tried this a few months ago and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised, it is very smooth and has a great flavour .It costs a few quid more than say a Captain Morgan but it is a far superior product well worth paying around the £15 to £17 a bottle for from supermarkets. Will be stocking up on this for Christmas . My personal preference is having it with Cola lots of ice and a slice of lime ."
A third added: "I don't drink a lot of rum but when I do I find the Mount Gay Eclipse to be one of the best and usually very good value from Amazon at around fifteen pounds for a standard 70cl bottle. Distilled in Barbados and with an alcohol strength of 40% you can almost taste the Caribbean sunshine in every tot! A good bottle to keep in your drink cabinet and a very nice tipple on a cold English winter evening."
A fourth said: "Barbados vacation in a glass. Great price...Mmm this is the best Rum I have ever tasted. I like it with lemonade and ice and a twist of lime . You must have lime. Sipping it from a tall glass transports me to Bim."
