Amazing open-top bus victory parade for all-conquering Dundee boys' football team

Open top victory parades are usually reserved for professional football teams.

That is unless you’re an all-conquering boys' outfit celebrating a treble winning season.

Dundee West 2008 Royals were treated to the amazing drive last night after an astonishing run of results.

The U14 outfit, coached by Richie Wesbter, have collected the Scottish Youth FA Cup, the Dundee West Anniversary Cup and the DS Rennie League titleScottish FA Cup.

The hour-long tour was hosted by XPlore Dundee and began at Baldragon Academy last night.

The boys then paraded past St Paul’s Academy, the Ardler pitches and Macalpine Fire Station before returning to Baldragon.

They were were crowned Scottish champions after beating Stenhousemuir 3-2 in an end-to-end match at Airdrie’s Excelsior Stadium.

The U14 team that took over 500 supporters to the game, were 1-0 down at half-time before turning the game around to lead 2-1, thanks to goals from Keiran Luke and Robbie Gilchrist.

Richie Webster, who coaches the team alongside Brian Hewitt, Ross Forbes and David Luke, said he’ll never forget the day.

He said: “It was an amazing day with a big build up and to win it the way they did, the emotions were all over the place.

“They scored in the last minute; we then go up the other end to win the game – it was just unbelievable.

“They will remember this for the rest of their lives.”

The Scottish Youth Cup win completed a treble of trophies for the Dundee West 2008 Royals this season.

They beat Montrose to lift the Dundee West Anniversary Cup in March before winning the DS Rennie League title.
