'Amazing' grandad who has kept grandson's memory alive

People have reacted to the "amazing" grandad who is keeping his grandson's memory alive.

Kevin Storey, from Huyton climbed Everest with two friends in 2021 in honour of his grandson Noah Storey who was born with a genetic condition called Myotubular Myopathy, meaning he was unable to move his body properly and could not communicate verbally.

In March of 2021, Noah died surrounded by his family at nine months old and ECHO readers have come out in support of Kevin and his family.

Marge Brislen said: "We lost our grandson Josh with the very same illness as Noah. He was just one year old. That was 21 years ago now. We’ve never heard of another child with the same illness until now. We know exactly how you are feeling because this illness is so rare. Thinking of Noah's parents and grandparents right now."

Rose Grantham commented: "Oh you darling sweet innocent angel. Rest easy little one. Your Grandad is watching over you always and will never forget how special you are."

Having already booked to climb Everest with colleagues, the group decided to raise funds in Noah's memory for the Myotubular Trust in the hopes no one goes through the "immense suffering" Kevin's family had to endure. Kevin commented on the post which has over a thousand likes and said the "kind" words mean "so much to the family".

Sian LJ said: "It’s made my evening to see that beautiful little face light up my screen. Noah continues to shine his beautiful light in all you do in his memory. I do hope you’re all recovering well Kevin. What an amazing thing to do." Sangan David said: "So sorry for the loss of your grandson my sympathy to the whole family."
