Uploading the image to their Twitter account, TheLMA said: "Our pic of the day is a cracker from around 1961 in Edinburgh.
"We have been digitising an old set of glass plates so the photos don't come with a great deal of information but we are fairly sure where this is taken. Can you work out which street this is on?"
Many locals were quick to respond, all saying the same thing. Andrew Murray said: "Brilliant picture.

"Lothian Road, I spent my formative years (1960s) running own that pavement after jumping off the back of moving buses as they approached the stop, often being shouted at or chased."
Hugh MacLeod added: "Lothian Road was my first choice, that's just up from the Filmhouse right?"
Another Twitter user said: "I'd say the photographer is probably standing on the roof of the Hanging Bat."
Ofcourse, all of the suggestions were spot on. You can find more amazing archive images from TheLMA here.
