Amanda Staveley's close bond with Chelsea's top brass may help unlock much-needed attacking signings for Newcastle United in the coming weeks. Staveley and Mehrdad Ghoudoussi were spotted with Blues co-owner Behdad Eghbali as they took their place in the directors at Stamford Bridge during the Blues' fiery 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Eghbali is the co-founder of Clearlake Capital, an investment firm who bought 60 per cent of Chelsea in the takeover from Roman Abramovich this summer. It recently emerged that Newcastle 's Saudi ownership also have assets managed by Clearlake. However, Chelsea sources insist there was no Saudi involvement in the purchase of the club and therefore no conflict of interest.
Staveley is also familiar with Chelsea owner Todd Boehly after the pair spoke together at an event hosted by an American economic think-tank in 2019. Boehly is said to have invited the Newcastle co-owner to west London to watch Sunday's derby game.

Of course, the timing is perfect with Newcastle desperate to strengthen their attacking options and Chelsea looking to offload fringe players. A host of Blues stars continue to be linked with a move to Tyneside as Staveley tries to bolster Eddie Howe's squad.
Chronicle Live understands that United have confirmed their interest in C allum Hudson-Odo i but will face stiff competition from a clutch of clubs for the right-winger. It is believed that the likes of Leicester City, Southampton and clubs in Europe are keen on his services.
Armando Broja was a target for the Magpies earlier this summer but the Albanian forward wants first-team assurances and may not get his desired game time behind Callum Wilson. The youngster has also been used by Thomas Tuchel in Chelsea's opening two Premier League games which will decrease his desire to leave the club.
Christian Pulisic is another name linked with a move to the north east as the American seeks regular game time. A loan move for the attacker may suit Newcastle in the coming weeks.
Conor Gallagher impressed on loan at Crystal Palace last season and would be another attacking option that would be welcomed in Newcastle. The 22-year-old came off the bench against Tottenham as Staveley and Ghodoussi watched on.
Staveley's good relationship with Chelsea's new board will only help Newcastle when it comes to poaching players from the London outfit. However, Boehly is already aware the Magpies will be able to upset the apple cart in the near future.
Speaking at a private equity conference in Berlin recently, Boehly said: “The big six will become the big seven with the Saudi deal for Newcastle. There’s going to be opportunity for everyone to win.”
