Amanda Serrano performs Croke Park U-turn as she blasts Katie Taylor decision

Amanda Serrano says she is open to fighting Katie Taylor in Dublin - but fans will have to wait until next year for it to happen.

The pair battled it out in what has been widely described as the greatest women's fight of all-time earlier this year at Madison Square Garden and many had hoped that a rematch would take place this autumn at Croke Park.

Serrano has instead opted to drop back down to featherweight to defend her WBO, WBC and IBO titles against Argentina’s Brenda Carbajal on the undercard of her promoter Jake Paul's fight with Hasim Rahman Jr on August 6.

But the 33-year-old has revealed she would be interested in facing Taylor on Irish soil after next month's bout.

Serrano told BoxingScene.com: “I would go to Ireland. It doesn’t matter where they wanna fight. But right now, I just need to defend my titles.”

The seven-weight world champion was also critical of the two judges that scored the Madison Square Garden fight in Taylor's favour to give the Bray Bomber a split decision win.

She added: “I scored it 96-94. I think I was more aggressive. I kept coming forward.

"In that fight, Katie Taylor never hurt me. There was a couple times I hurt Katie Taylor.

"But, you know, it’s not Katie Taylor’s fault. It’s the judges. They felt that she won. Two out of the three judges thought that she won.

"But, you know, it’s not losing, it’s learning. After my first loss, I came back and I won [nine straight] fights by knockout. So, I’m assuming you can’t leave it to the judges.”

After Serrano announced that she was opting for a bout at featherweight rather than a rematch with Taylor next earlier this summer, there were hopes that either Holy Holm or Cris Cyborg would face the 2012 Olympic champion at Croke Park instead.

Taylor's promoter Eddie Hearn is open to her fighting either Holm or Cyborg later this year, but insists the only bout that can take place at GAA Headquarters is a rematch with Serrano.

He told Betfred’s Lightweight Boxing Show recently: “I think that has to be for the Serrano rematch. You’ve got Cyborg, you’ve got Holly Holm - these are huge fights, but I feel like they'll happen later on in the year.

"We were pushing for September for Croke Park with Serrano - unfortunately, she didn't want that fight. So I think Croke Park would have to sit on ice for spring/summer of 2023.

“It’s a must for me - 80,000 at Croke Park for the rematch. I mean, that was the disappointing thing about not being able to engage Serrano in those talks. But it is what it is and, you know, we move on.”
