Amanda Owen's husband Clive claims 'badly handled' hit TV show sparked couple's split

Amanda Owen's husband Clive has blamed their show, Our Yorkshire Farm, for causing the pair to split.

Clive spoke out on ITV's Lorraine today, where he explained how tough things had be for Amanda lately after she was savagely trolled online over the pair's decision to go their separate ways. The former couple have a huge following because of their hit show but Clive feels it actually had a negative effect on their relationship and was the cause of their split.

He explained to Christine Lampard, who was standing in for Lorraine Kelly, that he struggled with jealousy and admits he handled the success of the show very badly, "ranting, raving and drinking".

Speaking on Lorraine today, he said: "It's a tough time for Amanda now and I think it's only right because I don't do social media to speak out. We filmed Our Yorkshire Farm, people loved it and it was an opportunity to make something as a family. That was what drove her. It was amazing and very successful but I handled it very badly.

" It was such a change in our lives and I sadly made a right mess of things basically. I had a massive part to play in the relationship ending. A massive part to play. I was ranting and raving and drinking and carrying on. I don't know – jealousy."

He blamed the show for their break-up, but went on to praise Amanda for being so "remarkable".

He added: "It seemed to eat away at me and I handled it badly and I behaved badly towards her. I should have been supportive ... It's been really upsetting, Amanda's having a tough time at the moment. I just feel I can't sit back. I have to say something in her defence, she's a remarkable woman. We just got to the point where we couldn't be together anymore."

Despite their split, the pair are still good friends and live just a few minutes from each other.

"We were under pressure, it is crazy and it makes you look at life not as well. It got to a point where we couldn't get along at all so we parted. It's very sad but that's how it is," he explained of their decision to go their separate ways.

"We're in business together and we farm together so we spend a lot of time together."

Of the kids, he explained: "The children are amazing, and probably because of her. So what happens is we work together, look after the kids together, she feeds us all and so I think I really believe the kids are great and fine. And there's so many of them."
