Amanda Holden lands BBC singing coach role for King Charles' Coronation

Amanda Holden has been confirmed to be one of the coaches for a new BBC singing show to celebrate King Charles' Coronation.

Sing for the King: The Search for a Coronation Choir will see vocalists of all ages from across the UK prepare to deliver a performance for King Charles and Queen Camilla, with Amanda being joined as a mentor by famous choir leader Gareth Malone, Dancing on Ice judge and former Strictly pro Oti Mabuse and Strictly champion and EastEnders star Rose-Ayling Eilis.

Discussing Amanda and her co-stars' role on the show, a BBC spokesperson said: "Drawing on their individual areas of expertise, they will coach, challenge and inspire the choirs to give a pitch-perfect performance and overcome the inevitable nerves that come with singing in front of royalty at Windsor Castle."

A preview for Sing for the King: The Search for a Coronation Choir teases: The final 300 strong choir will feature singing groups ranging from London Cabbies, an all-deaf sign performance group, a Northern Irish farming community and an LGBTQ+ choir; to a Gaelic choir hailing from the Western Isles of Scotland, Hull’s NHS choir, a traditional male voice choir from Caerphilly and a refugee choir, also from Wales."

It adds: "We’ll also hear Yorkshire’s only female South Asian choir, the London Fire Brigade and a troupe of RNLI sea shanty singers from Portishead – all of whom provide a highly-valued community for their members and serve a meaningful purpose beyond singing alone.”

While she is most famous for being a judge on Britain's Got Talent and a host on Heart Radio, Amanda had great success as a singer in 2021, when she released her album Songs from the Heart. The album reached number 4 in the UK charts and featured AManda's cover ve4rsions of classics like Somewhere Over The Rainbow, I Dreamed A Dream, I Know Him So Well and A Thousand Years.

Amanda will be back on ITV this weekend when the new series of Britain's Got Talent starts on Saturday night.
