Amanda Holden and Alan Carr join forces to restore a run down Sicilian villa in new BBC show, Amanda & Alan’s Italian Job. The series of six half-an-hour episodes begins on Friday, January 6.
“He’s been through a lot of personal stuff,” said Amanda of her friend and co-host, whose marriage broke down in January 2022. You can read more about that here.
Amanda added during the first episode: “I want to give him a project that’s going to start with something in tatters – much like him – and at the end there’ll be this beautiful building. And Alan too – he’ll have a bit of a makeover, mentally. He’ll feel a little bit more optimistic and a bit more hopeful about the future, maybe.”

The new series sees Amanda and Alan's love of interior design and DIY come to the forefront, as they take on a new property and fix it from the ground up. The pair take on challenges such as plumbing, painting and plastering.
For the show, Amanda found two flats in the medieval town of Salemi, which is around an hour from Sicily’s capital, Palermo, and bought them for just €2 - with a plan of knocking them together. Elsewhere in the series, the pair also throw themselves into the local lifestyle and make friends with their Sicilian neighbours and explore what Italy has to offer. Once the renovation is complete, the property will go on sale with the proceeds donated to UK charities.
Amanda & Alan’s Italian Job airs on BBC One at 8.30pm on Friday, January 6. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
