Amanda Holden addresses 'rift' with Holly Willoughby as she speaks out for first time after Phillip Schofield scandal

Amanda Holden has been forced to set the record straight on her rumoured 'rift' with Holly Willoughby for the first time after the Phillip Schofield scandal emerged. The Britain's Got Talent judge has released a statement on her Instagram today (June 8) following reports of an alleged 'feud' between her and the This Morning presenter.

The Heart Breakfast radio host, 52, made headlines earlier this week after she appeared to have 'mocked' Holly's speech she gave addressing her co-star Phillip Schofield's departure from ITV. Holly, 42, gave a statement live on air at the start of the ITV programme after Phil, 61, resigned from the broadcaster after admitting to an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a much younger ITV colleague.

Looking directly at the cameras, Holly told viewers: "Firstly, are you ok? I hope so. It feels very strange indeed sitting here without Phil. I imagine you might have been feeling a lot like I have, shaken, troubled, let down, worried for the wellbeing of people on all sides of what's been going on, and full of questions."

After Holly spoke on the matter on Monday (June 5), Amanda later took to her Instagram Story to show off her choice of outfit for the day and was seen wearing a similar angelic outfit to the one Holly wore.

Speaking to the camera, Amanda then said: "Hello, it is Tuesday. Are you OK?," which was picked up as mimicking the This Morning presenter.

Amanda has since released a statement today (June 8) which comes after The Sun claimed the ITV ladies have a 'toxi fued'.

Addressing the 'rift' head on to her 2 million Instagram followers, Amanda said: "The story in The Sun today about Holly and I is completely made up, full of contradictions and just utter rubbish. Sadly this means every other paper will now write it too. So I have to put this up for a few hours to try and add perspective and truth.

"Sadly strong and intelligent women have for far too long been pitted against one other when we should all be celebrated in our own right. What a surprise the article is written by a MAN.

"The 'rift story now circulating as a result of this article - which I have woken up to this morning and was not checked for factual correctness - simply does not exist. There have been some huge assumptions made this week and everyone has feasted on them."

Amanda added: "These type of articles need to stop. The language around women (in most pieces I read every day) is laughable. It's so different to how men are written about. Women are still expected to say nothing, suffer silently and just get on with it. And we do... mostlv.

"These stories are there just to distract us from the actual news. We are becoming a world which is gradually being eroded of all its best qualities- humour, backbone and truth."

Shortly after releasing her statement, the TV and radio star then took to her Instagram story wearing a bright blue dress as she told fans the weather is "finally freaking fabulous."
