(Picture: Timothy A Clary/AFP via Getty Images)The famous human rights lawyer Amal Clooney recently revealed that the son she shares with George Clooney made a very political remark concerning Russia’s President, Vladimir Putin.
The Lebanese-British barrister and the Hollywood actor have two five-year-old children together, named Ella and Alexander.
And recently, while appearing on a panel alongside Michelle Obama and Melinda French Gates in New York City, Clooney revealed that her children and husband are “the real driving force” behind her work with the Clooney Foundation for Justice.
While talking about her kids, she explained that they aren’t “quite on top of current events”, but that her son has been noticing his mother’s recent advocacy work.
She shared: “My son drew a picture the other day of a prison, and he was like, ‘Putin should be here’.
“I do think about in a few years, when they’re more than five, when they start to learn about some of these issues that we’re talking about and what’s happening in the world,” she added.
“You know, when they ask us, ‘What did you do about this? What did you say about that?’ I’ve thought about what will my answer be, and I hope it will be a good one.”
Clooney has been vocal about the need for the war crimes in Ukraine to be investigated by the United Nations.
Back in April, she told the UN Security Council: “Ukraine is, today, a slaughterhouse. Right in the heart of Europe.”
She also touched on the 2017 Security Council vote, which confirmed that the UN would collect, preserve, and store evidence of possible international crimes committed by the Islamic State in Iraq, commonly known as ISIS. It was the year her children were born.
“My children are now almost five and, so far, most of the evidence collected by the UN is in storage – because there is no international court to put ISIS on trial,” she noted.
